Washing the Scarf, 2019, Al Jabal Al Akhdar, Oman. Washing the Rocks, 2019, Qantab, Oman.

Washing is a series of durational video works made through sustained, repetitive physical action: scrubbing, washing, wringing, dressing and undressing, performed across specific landscapes in Oman. The gestures are legible and domestic, but their meaning accumulates through duration. What begins as an act of cleaning gradually reveals itself as something closer to ritual, or endurance, or refusal.

The tide erases each effort. The work continues regardless. That tension, between the apparent futility of the act and the commitment to repeating it, is where the series locates its inquiry. Routine as comfort and routine as alienation. The question of whether repetition moves toward meaning, or quietly dissolves it.
