Portable Pandol 2026
Repurposed fabric, Paliwar embroidery

Portable Pandol takes the Pandol as its starting point: the oversized pocket sewn into traditional Balochi women's attire, historically positioned close to the womb as a vessel of safekeeping. Scaled down and deconstructed, the work becomes a container for personal talismans, offerings, or intimate things carried across places and time. The fabric is sourced from Chabahar, Balochistan Province, Iran, and features Paliwar embroidery by Bashair Al Balushi. A mirror fish-eye motif, drawn from protective symbolism in Baloch visual culture, is worked into its surface. The piece moves between garment, shrine, and archive, an object that travels with its carrier rather than anchoring to any fixed place.
