Topographies of the Self 2018
Multimedia installation
Stal Gallery, Muscat

Topographies of the Self maps women’s bodily presence and absence within patriarchal social structures. The work takes burial as its central metaphor: when a woman is denied full existence, denied the right to be seen and to occupy space, she is not simply excluded but interred. Present and erased at once.

The installation constructs a spatial encounter with that condition, using the body and its material extensions to trace the particular violence of being made invisible while remaining physically there.
